Raisin Almond Scone

Ingredients
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 stick softened cold butter
  • 1 cup currants
  • ¼ cup crushed almonds
  • 1 large egg
  • ⅓ cup milk
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Add all ingredients (except the 2 tsp brown sugar) into a bowl and mix until dough comes together
  3. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface.
  4. Dust hands with flour and knead dough a few times until ingredients are well incorporated.
  5. Cut dough into 8 wedges
  6. Roll each wedge into a ball and place on baking sheet.
  7. Sprinkle the 2 tbsp of brown sugar on the scones.
  8. Bake 12 to 15 minutes, until scones are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center of a scone comes out clean.
  9. Cool scones on a wire rack for 5 minutes before serving.
